on living organisms. (6)
(d) Name materials that acts as sink for the gases, what other measures would
you suggest to control these gases in the atmosphere? (6)
3 (a) Nitrogen trifluoride, NF₃, boils at -129°C and is devoid of Lewis basicity. (4)
By contrast the lower molecular mass compound NH₃ boils at 33°C and
is well known as Lewis base.
 (i) Describe the origin of this very large difference in volatility.
(ii) Describe the probable origin of this difference in basicity.
(b) Arrange H₂O, H₂S, H₂Se in order of (4)

(ii) Increasing basicity towards a hard acid such as proton.
