1. What is the title and extent of the Pakistan Penal Code?

Answer:
The Act is called the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and it extends to the whole of Pakistan.

اس قانون کا نام پاکستان پینل کوڈ ہے اور یہ پورے پاکستان میں نافذ العمل ہے۔

2. Who is liable for offences committed within Pakistan?
Answer:
Every person who commits any act or omission against the provisions of this Code within Pakistan is liable to punishment under this Code.
اردو:
جو شخص پاکستان کے اندر اس قانون کی خلاف ورزی کرے گا، وہ اسی قانون کے تحت سزا کا مستحق ہوگا۔
3. What about offences committed outside Pakistan but triable in Pakistan?
Answer:
A person who is legally triable in Pakistan for an offence committed outside Pakistan shall be punished as if the act was committed within Pakistan.
اردو:
اگر کوئی شخص پاکستان سے باہر جرم کرے مگر قانون کے مطابق اس پر پاکستان میں مقدمہ چل سکتا ہو، تو اس کے ساتھ ایسے ہی سلوک کیا جائے گا جیسے جرم پاکستان میں کیا گیا ہو۔
4. What is meant by the extension of the Code to extra-territorial offences?
Answer:
The Code applies to:
  1. Any citizen of Pakistan or person in the service of Pakistan, wherever they are.
  2. Any person on a ship or aircraft registered in Pakistan, wherever it may be.
Illustration:
If a Pakistani citizen commits murder in Uganda, he can be tried in Pakistan.
اردو:
یہ قانون ان جرائم پر بھی لاگو ہوتا ہے جو پاکستان کے باہر کیے جائیں، اگر:
  1. جرم کرنے والا پاکستانی شہری یا پاکستان کی خدمت میں ہو۔
  2. جرم پاکستان میں رجسٹرڈ جہاز یا ہوائی جہاز پر کیا گیا ہو۔
مثال:
اگر کوئی پاکستانی یوگنڈا میں قتل کرے تو اسے پاکستان میں سزا دی جا سکتی ہے۔
5. Which laws are not affected by this Code?
Answer:
This Code does not affect any special or local law, or any law related to mutiny and desertion of military personnel.
اردو:
یہ قانون کسی بھی خصوصی یا مقامی قانون یا بغاوت یا فوجی فرار سے متعلق قوانین کو متاثر نہیں کرتا۔
